The Paradigm Conspiracy |
|
The Cloaking Shield of "Invisibility" In order to ensure the continuation of a school of thought or activity, no matter how functional or dysfunctional it happens to be, it often becomes necessary for the proponents of a paradigm to make the structure, dynamics, origin and mindset invisible to those adhering to it, in order to avoid the situation where the paradigm will be attacked. Group Membership One way to make paradigm filters invisible is to surround ourselves with people who share the same mindset and "take the paradigm for granted". It is because of this that small cliques permeate paradigm-rigid societies, but the dynamics of these cliques is also reflected in religions, corporations and social "institutions". The time span involved with the existence of a group, while it protects the same belief structures, is directly proportional to the rigidity of thought processes and the unwillingness to change and evolve inherent in the group. Groups set up to solve common problems disappear when the problem is solved. Groups set up under the color of action to solve problems (which they often helped create) continue In groups without the presence of an internal evolutionary dynamic, paradigm dynamics are more accurately described as 'paradigm dogmatism'. |
