Commentary: Fate vs. Destiny

"The progressive student will do well to remember that "destiny" properly means whatever is possible unto us, and "fate" means the external circumstances which appear in our pathway to be manipulated and eventually overcome through effort and understanding. To overcome "fate', we must know our 'fate'. Astrology points the way to that information. Astrology is not a doctrine of fatalism. It provides us with the inventory of the working materials with which we were endowed at birth in the form of tendencies, mental capacity, physical endowments and abilities; but how we use or neglect to use to tools remains within our own jurisdiction."  Llewellyn George, A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator, p.31.

 Neptune in Pisces
Neptune in Pisces
Feb 4, 2012 – 2025 (The Duration)
What will it mean?
By Jane Lyle

Neptune has recently returned in its orbit to the place it was when discovered in 1846. That's astronomy as well as astrology! It entered Pisces, the sign it rules, in 1847 moving through this mystical sign until 1861. A quick look at the events of this period gives us a clue to the general themes that will re-emerge, with a modern twist of course, since cultural evolution circles around like the DNA spiral, echoing itself. We will all feel these sea-changes, some of us more than others. If your birthday falls early in Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius, or you have planets or angles there, you'll be amongst the first to float down the river of dreams.

Neptune is the planet symbolically associated with illusion, delusion, glamour, spirituality, boundary-less experiences, psychic experiences, sacrificial love, deception, dreams, religious feelings, empathy, scandal, and the transcending of egos. It is the planet of fog, mist, oceans and oil. It rules photography and cinema - both forms of illusion if you think about it. There's also anaesthetic and hypnotic drugs, such as opium, the drug that kills pain and produces vivid dreams. In Victorian times you could easily (and legally) buy a wide range of drugs and poisons including opium and its derivatives, such as heroin. And very popular they were too, along with alcohol, another Neptunian substance. Neptune, in its highest manifestation, is associated with compassion for those who suffer, as well as a tendency to glamorise or idealise people, ideas, or even objects. So what can we learn from Neptune's 19th century trip? Spiritualism, for example, began exactly during the first year Neptune entered Pisces in 1848, and was surrounded by sensational scandal and confessions, or accusations of deception for many decades. Spiritualists seek to communicate with the spirits of the dead. Pioneer spiritualists were often wildly popular, their seances were attended by royalty, celebrities, scientists and politicians of the day. Imagine that happening now!

Neptune in Pisces links with compassion for the human condition. Back in 1848 Marx and Engels published their Communist Manifesto. Their potent rallying cry - 'Workers of the World Unite' - could rise up again, leading to social upheaval, civil disobedience, demonstrations, and subtle revolutions. Back in the 1840's Europe was in a state of volatile change as people began to assert or fight for their rights, and for better working/living conditions and pay. The effects of the industrial revolution had created mass urban misery and poverty. So, I wonder, what has the digital revolution created that people will reject or challenge? I expect to see this change happening in numerous ways - medical studies about the effects of digital technology; research into the social and emotional effects; the negative effects of a digital financial global marketplace, and technology's effects on our environment and its creatures. We have idealised and worshipped the internet, and digital technology in general. Reality begins to bite. Where now?

Further, Neptune in Pisces may bring a wider and more urgent awareness of social injustice, poverty, misery, and the effects of food and water shortages and mass epidemics on our population. The idea of putting something back gains real credence, we could see the rebirth of 19th century philanthropy translated into not only the actions of the super-rich (Bill Gates style), but also the actions of huge corporations.

Water in every context is another major theme for these years - from pollution of the oceans, and its fish and other creatures, to flooding, rainfall, healing, drinking, bathing and combating water-bourne diseases, such as cholera. The idealisation of the sea, of inland waters, plus a passion for pristine environments and their water are likely to be part of this. Poison in the oceans, and oil from under the sea ignite rage. The Deepwater Horizon disaster (2010) was just the beginning.

As Neptune is the planet of illusion, we can expect more fake textiles mimicking other materials, wild shoes, transgender styles and make-up designed to create a theatrical effect. The erotic, glamorous, and romantic will find new expression as we idealise the elusive and poetic, what is suggested or glimpsed or hinted at......we will crave a sense of intimate mystery in everything. This is part of the rejection of Big Brother cctv and internet surveillance that is brewing and growing during this period. Who is the individual? Who are the herd? We want union with others, to help foster social democracy, to belong somewhere and to be joined together by our passions and beliefs.
Charles Dickens was writing his novels during Neptune's last visit to Pisces. The social issues he raged against remain, and are highlighted once more as something that concerns all of us and shapes our futures.

So to sum up,here are some keywords for this fascinating period: the individual, the soul, dissolving boundaries in many contexts - sexual, spiritual, fiscal, political.... fighting for justice, freedom, fighting to be heard at all, revolutionary uprisings, search for intimacy and union, spiritual glamour, ritual and spiritual beliefs, philanthropic battles and campaigns, idealisation of healing, saving life in hostile areas, saving the oceans, music and its healing and emotional qualities. The environment remains a vital issue, but we can expect human beings and their welfare to be just as important if not more important. The idea of climate change takes over from global warming, other critical factors affecting our climate will be discovered. And remember, with Neptune in Pisces nothing is quite as it seems.....

Pisces is the sign of the witness, the conscience, the collective imaging where we lose our separateness and come together in what is common to all beings. Pisces is the last sign, where karma works at the end of a long process. Pisces is the sign of bondage, but also rewards. Pisces is associated with both dreams and nightmares, compassion and betrayal, forgiveness and hypocrisy. Now a force "beyond our control" begins to work these upon humanity, each responding according to what waters they swim in. For some, prophetic dreams and visions, while for others, ancient ghosts of terrifying shapes residing in the subconsciousness of humanity, leftovers from human misconduct and misunderstanding across millennia. Since much will not make sense during this time in the vast dreamscape, where ancient and modern myths collide in a fog of obscuring images and beliefs, learn to be a good surfer and ride the waves and tides as your Higher Self instinctively knows.

Commentary: "A Question of Degree" [01/28/12] Printer Friendly Version "... My friend Carl Karasl said got me thinking about the 29th degree. Astrologers I respect think it is in fact a significant degree. I’ll add a link at the bottom of this post and you can check it out there. But you read so many varying things about it: it’s the penultimate degree of a sign so the expression is strong; it is almost into the other sign, so the expression is weak; it can’t make up its mind and then it plunges into some rash action. What I think is that unless you were born with a planet there that is Rx or about to go Rx, that planet is going to progress very soon into the next sign. Especially if it is the fast-moving bodies we’re talking about. Picture this: You’re born with the Sun at 29 Scorpio and at Age 1 your progressed Sun moves to 0 Sag. Or you’re born with Venus at 10 Sag and at around Age 20, it progresses into Cap. You’re going to feel and remember that one, if your romantic and relationship style and needs undergo a change when you’re a young adult. [...]"   Related: "Critical & Anaretic Degrees" Printer Friendly Version "Classic critical degrees are 0, 13, and 26 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn); 8-9 and 21-22 degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius); and 4 and 17 degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces). These are considered sensitive, and sometimes strengthening, points. If a natal planet is found in a critical degree, that planet is emphasized and assumes more power in the life of the native due to its placement. Many astrologers consider 0 and 29 degrees of any sign critical degrees as well. The 0 and 29 degrees are more crisis-oriented points, especially in predictive work. If a natal planet is found at 29 degrees of any sign, also known as the Anaretic degree, there can be some real issues with decision-making in that part of the personality represented by the energies of the planet. The native may evaluate and re-evaluate situations before making a move one day, and the next day, jump into the action without listening to himself or herself! For example, if Mars is at 29 degrees, the native may devise many plans of actions, worry excessively about the possible actions and different routes to take, and then execute a spontaneous action that is contrary to the decision!  [...]"

Commentary"Sagittarius Eclipse: A New Power Emerges" Printer Friendly Version "A partial solar eclipse will occur on November 25, 2011 at 2°37′ Sagittarius. This will be the last of four partial solar eclipses in 2011; the others occurred on January 4, June 1, and July 1, 2011. With the North Node of the Moon, the Head of the Dragon, moving through the middle degrees of Sagittarius, we are now reaching the culmination of a period where the Sagittarius archetype is being torn open, erupting its dark shadow contents and forcing the entire world to see them. I say this because an eclipse is essentially a rip in the fabric of time, and eclipses at the Head of the Dragon represent something new coming into our awareness that we must struggle to integrate. The North Node represents the evolutionary path forward. The North Node is also, and more appropriately, called the Ascending Node, because it is where the path of the Moon crosses the path of the Sun (ecliptic) going upward. It is thus interpreted as “where we are going” or “what we are here for.” It represents a place where something previously below (consciousness) now rises up. Just as the Sun crosses the horizon at dawn, something now is piercing the main plane of existence (ecliptic) in an upward manner, struggling to become manifest. Systems theory can help us make a little more sense of this. (1) As living organisms, people (and arguably nations and civilizations) are open systems: they cannot survive without continuously exchanging matter and energy with their environment. This interaction has two components: input, i.e., that which enters the system from the outside, and output, i.e., that which leaves the system for the environment. The transformation of input into output by the system is usually called throughput. [...]"

Uranus/Pluto energy:  "During the summer of 2011 Uranus in Aries was within one degree of an exact square to Pluto in Capricorn. The combination of Uranus and Pluto is a particularly potent one that breaks down old structures and ways of being (Pluto) so that something new and fresh and completely authentic can replace it (Uranus). This is not always an easy process. Those of us who remember the 1960s (when Uranus and Pluto conjoined in Virgo) will remember the thrill of radical and revolutionary new lifestyles that broke down the stuffy (Virgo) morality of the period. .... The upcoming square of Uranus to Pluto will actually begin in the summer of 2012, and if things went on inthis world, the two would dance an incredible seven times before concluding in March of '2015'.

The turbulence that we see now sweeping across the Middle East and North Africa is just the beginning of this wave of Uranus/Pluto energy that seeks to sweep away the old and rotting corpse of a way of life that no longer works for humans at this stage of their psychic and spiritual development. This same dynamic will be at work in our personal lives, revealing any pocket of experience that is no longer serving us and which needs to be removed from our lives. This will understandably create a certain amount of chaos on an intimately individual level. [...]

The changes of the next few years will most personally affect those of us with planets between 5 and 15 degrees of the cardinal signs (Cancer, Capricorn, Aries and Libra), and most especially those with Uranus and Pluto in these signs, including: Those born between 1919 and 1928 with Pluto in Cancer; Those born between 1929 and 1932 with Uranus in Aries; Those born between 1951 and 1953 with Uranus in Cancer; Those born between 1969 and 1972 with Uranus in Libra; Those born between 1974 and 1978 with Pluto in Libra;and those born between 1989 and 1992 with Uranus in Capricorn. [...]

With Pluto in Capricorn, the very foundation of our material world will be challenged by the Uranian influence. Our finances, our retirement plans, our marriages – any of these structures that we build to contain our lives could be threatened if they are not built on solid footings. The effect of Uranus can be very stressful for the nervous system since Uranus operates on an electrical platform that can excite and thrill us, but also inspire anxiety and distress. It is crucial to remember during this period that if any aspect of our personal lives break down under these influence, it is because they are no longer serving their purpose and require transformation in order for all involved to move forward in their personal evolution. [...]" Note: It is quite understandable why we'd all get out of here during a period like this, or just preceding it. [Pertinent excerpts from here]

"Neptune Completes First Orbit Since Its Discovery in 1846" Printer Friendly Version "Tonight the planet Neptune completes its first trip around the sun since humans first discovered the gas giant planet. Neptune is the only planet to have been discovered by mathematics. French astronomer Urbain Le Verrier noticed irregularities in the motions of other planets, and from these perturbations calculated that there must be an eighth planet lurking out beyond Uranus. Using Le Verrier’s calculations, German astronomer Johann Galle at the Berlin Observatory located the new planet on Sept. 23, 1846.  [...]"

"Astrology of USA and the Nanny State"  Printer Friendly Version "Since 9/11 2001, the USA has seen an inordinate amount of focus on public safety as a propaganda device, with a corresponding decrease in public safety as a reality. The “Department of Homeland Security” (I cannot write this phrase without quotation marks; it still seems like something out of a wacky Orwellian parody) was born of fear. It wasn’t born out of the motivation to provide genuine protection for anybody. This is the shadow side of America’s Cancer Sun..... Anyone with Cancer strongly placed in their chart knows the vibrational difference between the creative side of Cancer and its reactive side. The former provides authentic protection in ways appropriate to context. The latter manipulates for its own purposes the human fear of being exposed to harm. [...]Herein lies the key to the dysfunction of America’s Cancer pattern. As we approach the national Pluto Return in the US second house of money, we see signs everywhere that the profit motive in this country has gotten a tad out of hand. [...]"

"The July 1 Solar Eclipse" Printer Friendly Version "First, the Sun is moving into a potentially challenging alignment with Uranus and Pluto that will last until the solar eclipse on July 1st. I see this eclipse event as the trigger for the big Uranus/Pluto square which is as close in July (less than two degrees) as it will be until the two clash for real next year. As individuals, we have a number of different influences that make up our personality. These are clearly identified in our birthchart which makes it easier to understand how these different facets of our personality interact and work together or clash. As the Sun moves closer to the exact square to Uranus on June 26th and to Pluto on June 28th these different facets within us could become more difficult to integrate. Remember that planetary cycles don’t create problems for us unless there is something that requires adjustment in order to find balance. The Sun is a powerful force that illuminates our lives with nourishing warmth, but that powerful force, when strongly aspected with the planet of revolution (Uranus) and the planet of endings and new beginnings (Pluto) will likely reveal to us areas of our life where these different facets of ourselves require integration. It’s human nature to avoid pain and seek pleasure, so when we are in a difficult time it’s tempting to hide out and wait until it’s over. But if we utilize these intense cycles we can make tremendous progress in our personal growth. [...]"

Astrology"Neptune and the Dream in the US" Printer Friendly Version  "...The U.S. Sibly horoscope has Mars at 21º Gemini in the 7th house, square an elevated (closest to the 10th-house cusp) Neptune at 22º Virgo, sign of its detriment. As a nation, we have a collective storyline that includes both nebulous (or ill-defined) actions or motivations, and a susceptibility to propaganda or seduction, side-by-side with a guileless belief in altruistic action.  What a perfect fit for the country, as Obama’s natal Mars at 22º Virgo is exactly conjunct the country’s Neptune. (Obama also has the natal Sun-Neptune midpoint at 25º34’ Virgo, with Mars at 22º34’ Virgo. It’s a three-degree orb, which is larger than I usually use, but with a larger than life character, perhaps a wider orb can be allowed.) Although I can’t remember the details, in his book, Political Astrology, Michael O’Reilly made the observation that since the advent of televised campaigning, the candidate who wins the presidential election has a prominent Neptune in the radix. Neptune, of course, rules the media, and the “winner” has to play well on the television. This perhaps suggests that the “dark side” of Neptune, (i.e., weak but glamorous, etc.) has become a stronger feature in presidential politics.
The nation has had the transit of Neptune over the U.S. Moon. (The transit was precise from March 2010 through January 2011. In November, at the direct station, Neptune is at 28º 08’ Aquarius and the U.S. Moon is at 27º10’, less than a degree apart). The Moon governs the people, the populace. As a nation, we have been “under the influence,” have been beguiled and beguiling, seduced and seductive, for the promise and hope of Neptune in all of its possibilities. [...]"

Analysis: "Summer 2011 - Info On Astrological Aspects" [Extract from] A Cardinal Grand Cross Summer Solstice and Triple Eclipse Season: Here We Go Again [Printer Friendly Version "We’re heading into very similar astro conditions as last spring/summer with a Cardinal Grand Cross forming by the June 21 Summer Solstice and the entry of the Sun into Cancer. It feels like deja vu. Or rather it feels as if we never left the conditions of the Summer of 2010. Ontario, Canada was turned into a “you aren’t in Canada right now” official police state as it hosted the G8 and G20 meetings last summer for the initial ingress of Uranus into Aries. The tone and agenda were set at that time for the series of Uranus in Aries – Pluto in Capricorn squares running through 2015 ... Time has become compressed as we’re psychologically and physically rocked by multi-layered global crisis events being set off like dominoes ....

Mercury will enter Cancer June 16 and kick off a two-month Cardinal Grand Cross. This is two oppositions forming four squares among the initiatory, leadership-oriented cardinal signs. It is kept strong as Mercury, the Sun, Venus and then Mars in Cancer trigger the Cardinal Grand Cross configuration into late August opposite Pluto in Capricorn with Uranus in Aries opposite Saturn in Libra. Saturn in Libra stations direct June 12 at 10 degrees. Squares (90 degrees) and oppositions (180 degrees) are considered challenging aspects requiring a great deal of energy, focus and dedication to successfully navigate. In the cardinal signs, these aspects are forcing us to make our moves under tense and pressure-filled conditions. Let’s be clear: we’re taking the directions that are being spurred and stepping into newly opened leadership positions with humanity under various levels of duress. Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge this fact is not fully aware of the situation on this planet

....  We can expect the Summer of 2011 to be a continuation on the theme – another tension-filled and unpredictable summer with many things coming unglued both personally and on the world stage. The mind-boggling shit-storms we’re dealing with on this planet continue to sink in at the same time as new ones are unleashed. The ballgame continues to shift. The cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) relate to the points in the year when the seasons change. We’re in the midst of a period of time (2010-2015 most intensively) when all four seasons change at once – and then again, and again, and again. This hasn’t really let up from last summer’s cardinal action, and it increases stress levels. The next steps on the global agenda are unfolding, and people are striving to find survival territory – both physical and soul-level – in their own lives. As upheaval-weary as the human population is at this point, we’ve only just begun. New directions are being forced on multiple fronts with new community leaders coming to the forefront out of sheer necessity as the global agenda steamrolls ahead.

This summer, things are even tighter than last. There is even less room for error or for denial. Last summer, the configuration was actually a cardinal t-square with the fourth leg of Saturn in late Virgo making it an energetic Grand Cross. It was a Grand Cross by orb (degree), but it was not a Cardinal Grand Cross because Saturn was in a mutable sign. This summer, Saturn’s in Libra, and we’ve got the full-on real deal. In addition, Uranus will be highly potent, pulling into a retrograde station July 9at 4 degrees Aries. As it stations, Uranus will be within a degree of its first exact square to Pluto in Capricorn at 5 degrees Capricorn within the Cardinal Grand Cross formation. This is some lightning-hot intensity ahead of the first exact Uranus-Pluto square June 23, 2012.

Next spring/summer, Saturn will be in late Libra, out of orb of the Cardinal Grand Cross. If people were able to resist or deny the grand-scale movements and global upheaval initiated (and forced) during the cardinal t-square summer of 2010, that will change this summer, the Cardinal Grand Cross summer of 2011. The Cardinal Grand Cross at the northern hemisphere’s Summer Solstice this June is sandwiched in a triple eclipse season, which includes a total lunar eclipse at 24 degrees Sagittarius conjunct the North Node. Eclipses usually produce a between-spaces, unglued energy, resulting in big emotional back-drop changes and sometimes involving shattering events. The timing of global socio-political events is often tied to these points. Eclipses happen every six or so months and are basically New and Full Moons that involve a more exact alignment than usual of the Sun, Earth and Moon and are considered more potent than standard New and Full Moons because of it. There are usually two – a Full Moon eclipse and a New Moon eclipse – though three is not all that rare. The last triple eclipse season we had was July/August 2009. [...]"

Commentary: "The Moon and Mercury Overthrow the Sun"  Printer Friendly Version "The total Lunar Eclipse of June 15, 2011 is a rare one because it is a central eclipse, which means that the Moon passes right through the very heart of the Earth’s shadow. This is because it is also right in the middle of its family, i.e. its Saros series, and eclipses often reach their greatest totality at the midpoint of the series, when the astronomical alignments are most precise. The current eclipse is number 34 of 71 eclipses in Lunar Saros 130, which began June 10, 1416. Generally, the Moon is said to govern domestic matters — the people and emotions — so a lunar eclipse tends to have a more personal effect than the solar eclipse, which has a distinctive socio-political effect. Also, since the lunar eclipse is by nature an opposition, it has the tendency to work itself out via relationships with other people in our lives. However, since the previous total lunar eclipse of December 21, 2010 happened on the solstice, this astrologer wrote on December 13 in a TMA blog: “We now begin a period where the Mundane or World Axis will be forced open, ejecting its inner contents and forcing all the World to become aware of the loss. This is because an eclipse is essentially a rip in the fabric of Time, and the South Node total Lunar Eclipse suggests both a personal and collective loss.” (1) Accordingly, just a few days before this momentous eclipse, a street vendor in Tunisia set himself ablaze in an act of protest and sparked a series of demonstrations that gained momentum and eventually resulted in an entire region becoming politically active. This wave of political unrest, which has been termed variously as the Arab Spring or Jasmine Revolutions, has as one of its slogans, ”Ash-sha`b yurid isqat an-nizam,“ which means “The people want to topple the regime.” (2) In fact, regime change by the people was accomplished twice in the three months following this lunar eclipse, in Tunisia and Egypt. Now the UN is supporting a possible regime change in Libya, and President Obama has consistently said it is only a matter of time before Gaddafi is gone. The astrology seems to agree. With the continuation of these powerful lunar eclipses, it seems that the People, who are symbolized by the Moon, have a window of opportunity to make themselves more important than their rulers, symbolized by the Sun. Being conjunct the Galactic Center and still near the winter solstice point, it is possible that this total lunar eclipse could have equally powerful socio-political effects and serve to extend the “Arab Spring” into summer.

Maximum hot zones begin Summer 2011 when Uranus closely squares Pluto, finally becoming exact in a series of hard aspects lasting from the Summer of 2012 through early 2016. "Uranus-Pluto and the Arab World" "Natally, Egypt has a Sun-Mars conjunction. So significant events around the leader (Sun) involving assertive action or protest or violence (Mars) are more than usually likely whenever there is a Sun-Mars conjunction in the sky – as there is now, and in Aquarius, a sign associated with Democracy. The Astrology of Israel and Palestine "... The astrological chart for Israel (from astrodatabank) shows the Sun in the fixed sign of Taurus in square (challenging aspect) to Mars (warfare and aggression) in Leo. In mundane astrology, the Sun represents the spirit of the nation, and Taurus is focused in security and peace. A fixed sign, Taurus can be stubborn like the Bull by which it is symbolized, and does not easily adapt to the ideas of others. The square of Mars to the Sun shows a combative nature, and Mars in the royal sign of Leo can be arrogant and prideful. Chiron forms a T-square to the Mars/Sun opposition: the Sun is opposed by Chiron (the wounded healer), indicating a persistent healing crisis in the life of the nation that will pressure it to continually align with the truth. In the individual, failure to make this alignment results in chronic disease, and the same can be said of countries. Chiron also makes a square to Mars, indicating that an imbalance of aggression and the failure to create healthy boundaries will lead to great pain. Four planets fall in Leo in the Israeli chart: Moon, Pluto, Saturn and Mars. Leo is the sign of self-oriented expression, and the Moon in Leo demands appreciation and recognition. Conjunct Pluto as it is in this chart, the Moon is constantly under pressure to prove its worth. The conjunction of Saturn and Pluto is a challenging one in any chart: Saturn strives for stability and practicality, it is the planet that inspires building something lasting. Pluto, on the other hand, demands authenticity and breaks down structures that are not for the highest good. The combination of these two planets generally requires a letting go of our own plans (Saturn) and a willingness to open up to the possibilities of transformation (Pluto). Resistance to this process leads to a constant crisis and breakdown of the structures we work hard to establish. ..."

Outer Planet Highlights in 2012 - Time Line

03 Feb Neptune enters Pisces 02:05 pm EST Tran-Tran 00 Pisces 00'
Spiritual revival will be just one hallmark of the next fourteen years, as will a general tendency for those who pretend to it not give to those who actually do. Flights of romanticism are daily fare, even to those whose life is not romantic in the least. When there is nothing else, there is always a dream, a pure dream, waiting just beyond.

New frontiers, hot prospects, expanded operations are not hard to sell right now -- in fact, the soft sell will be the most successful. Whether you are promoting your affections or your consumer product, act as if it's the only way to go in the world and is pretty much of an accomplished fact already. The more faith you have in yourself, the more others will have in you, and the more likely things will work out right for you, since everyone is expecting them to.

A year of multiple plans and schemes is ahead, where everyone talks a lot about what they're about to do, but not all of it will be decided or acted upon. There's more discussion than action, and lots of avenues are explored before narrowing down the options. Multitasking is a must, because there will always be more than one iron in the fire.
24 Jun Uranus square Pluto 03:41 am EDT Tran-Tran 08 Aries 24'
This several-year period (most recently centering around 1933) occurs only once every 128 years and is reputed to have the effect of transforming and sometimes violent technological progress upon society at large. Too lengthy to have much more than a background effect, it nevertheless sets the tone of the period.

This is a broad time for taking that second look at what life seemed to offer, or that it claimed to promise. That doesn't mean your life, specifically, but you'll probably find that's the current question in the air and there is good conversation in it at the least. The answers in general will be for the moment that optimism fails -- hopes lead to disappointment, and a lot of other confusions that result from both unclear desires and fuzzy thinking. If you can be on the outside looking into this one, you'll be the happier for it. Unexamined expectations go before the fall, and where you can be a cushion to others and a shoulder to lean on, you'll be the one to benefit from it later.

It's a good time to invest in mutual discovery, where what you stumble on somehow perfectly dovetails with what just fell into your partner's lap. You don't need to push or pursue the far-out to go really way into yourselves, and you'll probably even have a little help from your friends, because right about now they're probably doing it, too. This can apply to the boardroom or the bedroom equally, as subtle inspiration and small "aha!" revelations snowball to give everyone a totally new view on an old subject and reinvigorate flagging energies and interests. The key to success: Be aboveboard, don't go overboard. Share what's given, expect the same.

Those who have been keeping the wrong sort of secrets will pay for it over the next couple of years, but not necessarily in public. Secret or private endings abound and behind-the-scenes justice may give the appearance of business as usual, belying the true change in course. Open and aboveboard is the safest place to be.
10 Oct Saturn trine Neptune 10:35 pm EDT Tran-Tran 00 Scorpio 37'
For about a year, the world in general seems to be in the process of merging spiritual aspirations with material possibilities. It is as if Church and State finally realized they both agree at heart. It is a period you will likely look back on with fondness and a sigh, realizing that hope does indeed spring eternal and eventually may triumph. But the meek aren't about to inherit the earth, not yet anyway, so perhaps the best way to capitalize on this general trend is to associate yourself with hope, both yours and others', and where possible let it float your boat for the duration. Inner and outer stability flourishing together can only last a time, like Camelot.

This roughly yearlong period describes a background in which previous social conflict has been resolved and the establishment and powers that be seem to be pretty much doing their jobs. While not necessarily of personal impact, this rolling along of the status quo is something you may be able to use or at least be aware of to your advantage. It means you'll get more mileage out of being a cooperator and someone who does not rock the boat. There is more headway to be made running with the tide than against it, although you may not agree with everything you have to put up with in the process. The time for major departures from the norm is not now, but will come soon enough.

Some Major Long-Term Highlights (Below)

Pluto in Capricorn - 2008 to 2024    Revolves around: Fear of corporate power, corporate corruption, businesses and governments in cahoots with one another to screw over the masses, large-scale accountability and accounting issues, the coupling (or decoupling) of power and responsibility, containment of destructive power, threats to and from civilisation itself, threats to and from long-established structures and nation-states who consider themselves to be the patriarchal leaders of the world, using regulation to control and subdue. Clash of civilisations. Activation of struggles about civilised values. The power of governments, institutions, and big business to wreak havoc. Or wreaking havoc in the name of business and government. Borders, boundaries, structures, walls - whether they go up or come down - may be seen as directly connected with fear, threats, and the possibility of destruction. info

Uranus in Aries  ... a taste of revolution ... will come and stay Mar 11, 2011 until we're out of here.

2012: Uranus squares Pluto at 7° - 8° of cardinal signs. This is the waxing square of the cycle that started in the mid 1960s, with the conjunction of these two planets in mid Virgo. This square is a symbol of innovation competing directly with the entrenched power elite (corporate power may be challenged in a new and positive way, especially in a U.S. election year). * Think of the years of 2010-2012 as the "Grand Cross years".

Eclipses in 2011
There are resonant effects at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months after eclipses, bringing the effect into 2012

January 4, 2011 Solar Eclipse at 4:03 AM EST Sun 13 Capricorn 39 Conjunct Moon 13 Capricorn 39 (Partial Solar Eclipse). The eclipse point will square Saturn in Libra (Saturn is considered "exalted" in Libra), which could present many folks with an interesting dilemma. During the coming solar eclipse of January 2011 it will be important to listen and act with the flow of this Libran/Capricornia dynamic. June 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse at 5:03 PM EDT Sun 11 Gemini 02 Conjunct Moon 11 Gemini 02 (Partial Solar Eclipse). June 15, 2011 Lunar Eclipse at 4:14 PM EDT Sun 24 Gemini 23 Opposition Moon 24 Sagittarius 23 (Total Lunar Eclipse) July 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse at 4:54 AM EDT Sun 9 Cancer 12 Conjunct Moon 9 Cancer 12 (Partial Solar Eclipse). November 25, 2011 Solar Eclipse at 1:10 AM EST Sun 2 Sagittarius 37 Conjunct Moon 2 Sagittarius 37 (Partial Solar Eclipse). Dec 10, 2011 Lunar Eclipse at 9:36 AM EST Sun 18 Sagittarius 11 Opposition Moon 18 Gemini 11 (Total Lunar Eclipse) .

The Cardinal Grand Cross of 2011

"T-Squares Past and Present"

 "The Cardinal T-Square of 2010 and 2011 - Part 1"

"The Cardinal T-Square of 2010 and 2011 - Part 2"

This summer, the action takes place primarily in the earliest degrees of the cardinal signs, which are the most volatile, and we’ll be in the midst of an eclipse pair in cardinal signs Capricorn and Cancer. This is the highest-risk period for extreme disruption, be it natural or manmade. By summer of 2011, Jupiter will have advanced to Taurus, Saturn will be out of range of a square with Pluto, and the eclipses will start shifting into Sagittarius and Gemini. The last eclipse of the Capricorn-Cancer series is a partial solar eclipse at 9 degrees Cancer on July 1, 2011. With Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto in a T-square, the addition of the eclipse forms a grand cross. This configuration is more like a dog chasing its own tail — a lot of activity, but it may tire itself out before any real damage is done.

In addition to a batch of strong eclipses in 2011, this summer will feature an incredibly powerful alignment called a "Cardinal Grand Cross." The aspect pattern is called a Cardinal Grand cross because it involves planets closely aspected in the zodiac signs of the cardinal modes (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn). Cardinal energies are starters and initiators, and we got a sneak peak of this major alignment this past summer of 2010 (really starting, in my mind, with the Oil spill disaster). This 2011 summer the Grand Cross will primarily feature Uranus, Saturn and Pluto, and these outer planets pack a punch.Uranus opposed Saturn reflects the need for order, tradition, rules, boundaries, time and restrictions (Saturn) in contrast to revolution, immediacy, emancipation, and freedom from restrictions (Uranus). Both are squared to Pluto (deep, elemental power, transfiguration, death and rebirth). The Cardinal Grand Cross will be activated by a number of planets passing over the opposition point to Pluto (The sun in Cancer, the Moon in cardinal signs, Mercury, Venus, and Mars), which means that all the personal planets will be in play. This makes the Cardinal Grand Cross more than just an activator of large, cultural/global energy fields; this summer everything from how we communicate (Mercury) to how we relate (Venus) to how we see ourselves (Sun) to how we approach life and take action (Mars) to how safe we feel in the world (Moon) will be touched upon by this configuration.
